On Sunday 24th March the Side Saddle Association had its national AGM at Hogarth’s Hotel in Solihull. As well as covering the order of business there were presentations and the national performance points were awarded as well as association trophies.
In the afternoon a series of presentations were given to celebrate the 50th SSA anniversary by long-standing SSA members: Vanessa Hood, Patricia Drake, Maureen James, Amanda Say, Belinda Wilkins, Vivienne Hogg and Gill Greenwood. Area member Gill completed the afternoon by speaking on the history of the National Performance Awards.
Performance Points results received in the area:
Moretonhall Storming Norman with Gill Greenwood & Glynis Hughs. (the prizes are awarded to the horse in the first instance)
- 2nd overall in the adult section.
- Dressage Champion winning the Le Noir trophy
- Showjumping Champion winning the Solidarity Trophy
- Veteran horse / pony Champion winning the Whitecroft Eastern Promise trophy
- The Mature Rider Championship winning the Age Aside Trophy
Downtown Shirley with Alex Naylor were 7th in the adult section. Well done to you both.
Mardenway Bow-Peep with Elsie Anderson
- 2nd in the junior section
- Pure Bred Mountain & Moorland Champion winning the Frances Killick trophy
Also at the National AGM the National Show Points Trophies are formally presented to the winners by the SSAs Patron Mrs Jane Holderness-Roddam .

The Sideways Salver (riding side saddle 90% of the time) awarded to Moretonhall Storming Norman & Gill Greenwood
The Mica trophy : jointly awarded to Moretonhall Storming Norman & Gill Greenwood together with Gafros Minstral & Jacqui Kedward.
The Blackfen Royalist Trophy jointly awarded to Moretonhall Storming Norman & Gill Greenwood and Gafros Minstral & Jacqui Kedward.
