The Performance Points
The below section is from the Side Saddle Association Website about the National Performance Points.
The ‘SIDE SADDLES’ Performance Awards are aimed at the performing standards of the horse/pony, rather than the rider. Points are awarded to a horse/pony, based on its’ own ability to do well under side saddle, across a wide variety of events. Furthermore, the scheme aims to encourage Members to ride side saddle in all events, not just Equitation (which does not count for points).
The Competition runs from 1st January to 31st December in any year and is open to stallions, mares and geldings of four years of age and over, competing within the United Kingdom. However, horses competing outside the U.K. qualify for the Overseas Championship only.
All horses and ponies must be ridden side saddle by paid-up Members of the Side Saddle Association In order to qualify for points.
Bonus points are awarded for competing in events and classes affiliated to other Equestrian and Breed Societies. Points are also gained by competing, even if not placed. All entries will receive a rosette.
In order to be eligible for the Supreme Champion award, the horse/pony must have competed in at least three categories. In the event of equality of points, the higher number of first places will be the decider.
The Awards are presented annually at the Annual General Meeting of the Association.
